Research Subjects	Screening of chemical compound exerting anti-tumor activity to hematological cancer Establishment of novel diagnostic modality for AL amyloidosis
Research Focus	We have been trying to identify chemical compound, mostly derived from natural plants, which exert significant anti-tumor activity to hematological malignancies. We are targeting to multiple myeloma and adult T-cell leukemia because these diseases are still incurable. We also analyze mechanisms regulating anti-tumor activity of compounds and their toxicity to normal tissues as well. We are trying to detect small amount of amyloid fibrils which may exist in body fluid, such as urine, blood or saliva, of amyloidosis patients by using specially prepared nano-beads or exosome separation method. This approach could replace conventional harmful biopsy modality to make a diagnosis of AL amyloidosis.
