Dept. of Immunology and Hematology

This department consists of Immunology and Hematology. Immunity is the biological system that protects host against pathogens. However, in some cases where it doesn't work properly, it can cause allergy or autoimmune diseases such as SLE and rheumatoid arthritis. Students learn about the system of immunity at Introduction to Immunology and Clinical Immunology to gain a deep understanding of these subjects. In hematology, students learn hematological diseases such as anemia and leukemia and practice morphological examination of blood cells, coagulation tests and fibrinolysis tests. Students also learn about blood transfusion.

Dept. of Analytical Biochemistry

The aim of this department is to study the function of biological molecules in living cells and especially to research the correlation between macromolecules, and the genetic disorders of human beings. Our students will learn the principle functions and analytical methods of biological molecules for the medical research and diagnostic examination.

Dept. of Microbiology and Environmental Chemistry

There are various kinds of pathogens, like bacteria, fungus, virus, prion and parasite. And these pathogens can be the cause of infectious diseases. In recent years, the number of kinds of pathogen is increasing because of environmental changes. Students learn how to identify infectious pathogens using morphological, biochemical, physiological and genetic information analyses, and to provide information for proper treatment measures. We at this department also provide suggestions for the promotion of health, and put them into practice to contribute to the improvement of public health and environmental hygiene.
